the hype continues...

It’s been months since my school bagged a lot of championship crowns in the UAAP but I guess the Thomasian community just can’t get enough.=)  There are a lot of teams who worked their asses off during practices just to get those wonderful trophies and of course, school pride.Ü  I’m proud to say that my school got the championship titles for basketball- men’s and women’s division, taekwondo- men’s and women’s division (too!=P), women’s division of chess, swimming and table tennis, men’s division of judo.  We also ranked second in men’s division of swimming and table tennis, women’s division of judo. Who would ever forget about the Salinggawi Dance Troupe? Five in a row baby!=) Great huh??  That’s the University of Santo Tomas for you.  As a tribute to our athletes, the Varsitarian (official student publication of UST), released a special sports issue.  Who’s on the cover?? Of course five of the most celebrated tiger cagers.Ü  It particularly focuses on the growling tigers ending their 10-yr drought with a Cinderella story.  Almost everyone who wrote in that issue said that it was faith that guided the team to victory and I strongly believe that. Against all odds but we kept our faith.  Everything else is history.  There are a lot of good points mentioned there but if I mention all, probably it’ll take a lot of effort from me typing it and I am one sluggish person to do that.  nyaha!=P So let me just say my favorite points…  ‘Di lang halata pero mga players naman make it a point to say a little prayer in the chapel or make the sign of the cross whenever they pass by.  Nagmamano sila sa mga pari and officials ng IPEA.  It’s a nice sight ‘coz they’re all big then you see them taking the hands of the elders to show respect.=)  My other favorite is that our starting pointguard couldn’t even make his freethrows even if there is a shotgun held in his face!  Poor boy, natira na naman with his dismal freethrow shooting. Haaay!  Having the blue and white as an opponent for the finals, who were also a Catholic school, there was a battle of prayers.  But as one writer said,  exactly the point.  Pantay ang labanan un nga lang, God is a Thomasian and answered our prayers. haha!  So there, the hype continues and I’m pretty sure it’ll continue until next season.  Prepare for a wonderful opening for that.  We are the host. =) ‘til then…ÜÜÜ
